Celeste Aldahn

Celeste Aldahn an emerging interdisciplinary artist and graduate of the South Australian School of Art (BVA: Honours, 1st Class). My research concerns the interconnectivity of contemporary feminist studies and alternative spirituality, focusing on the popular culture associated with young women and female experience. I employ craft and material-centric methods in creating sculpture and video with a charged femininity. Natural and industrial fetishist materials are often combined, becoming ‘activated’ conduits of energy through their union and recalling apotropaic relics. I have exhibited Australia-wide at Firstdraft, Sydney; Canberra Contemporary Art Space; Sawtooth, Launceston; the JamFactory, CACSA, SASA, FELTspace and Fontanelle in Adelaide; and internationally at HKBU Gallery, Hong Kong. In addition to my exhibition history, I play music with touring band Rule of Thirds.
